Identifying indicators of violent intent in the pre-attack phase.
According to Paul Watzlawick, it is not possible not to communicate, i.e. perpetrators with intent to use violence cannot act without showing certain indicators.
Training to recognize these behavioral indicators can enable security personnel to potentially prevent attacks, assassinations, or other acts of violence. People under stress in particular display specific signals i n their body language-and even attempts to consciously suppress these characteristics can often be identified by trained observers. Practical factors such as the concealed transport of attack materials also leave recognizable behavioral traces.
In Three Corners Risk Consulting's Behavioral Detection Training, participants learn to recognize and evaluate the overall picture of these indicators and to derive preventive measures from them.
The three-day basic course covers, among other things:
- History and development o f behavioral detection
- Observation and situational awareness
- Physical reactions to stress
- Indicators: tactical and emotional signals
- Approaches used by criminals and terrorist actors
- Case studies for analyzing real events
- Practical exercises and tactical application
